Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV) – “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
One of the biggest struggles of my life (and indeed, the life of many Christians) is sharing the Salvation that God has given to me. It is not out of laziness or out of a shy, bashful attitude, but rather a poor view of the people with whom I come into contact. What I mean by this is not that I believe that God can’t save them, but my heart does not recognize the consequences of my inaction. If we truly believe what the Bible says, we will look at our fellow man and be so overwhelmed that we can’t help but share our faith.
Hell is a real place. Scripture speaks of it as a place where those outside of the saving Grace of God will spend eternity separated from God. The Bible uses many descriptions and images but ultimately, it is a place of eternal torment and suffering where man will spend their time in utter hatred and rebellion for eternity.
The question I have for myself and others is this: how can we not tell others about this? How can we believe what the Bible says and go throughout our week, day, hour, or even the next minute not sharing with those we know are outside of the saving Grace of Christ? Let that sink in! If the Bible is true, that means Hell is real. This also means that the Grace of God to Salvation for everyone who believes is also true and real. There is a way out! How cruel is it to the unbeliever to keep that truth from them! Let the command of Christ in Matthew 28 not only be a command to tell others about God’s love and the sacrifice of Jesus, but also let it be motivation to help our fellow man.
If we would not want to spend eternity apart from God, why would we not tell others. Does Christ not command us to love others more than ourselves? Let us love the world and tell them about Christ. Tell them about Salvation from sin, Hell and the grave! Tell them about Christ’s sacrifice! Tell them about Grace!
