I will fear no evil
Psalm 23:4 (ESV)
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Fear has a scary way of controlling us. It can influence our decisions and affect how we handle obstacles in our life. Fear can put us in some very dangerous situations. With God on our side, what do we have to fear?
Darkness represents fear, while God represents light. We are afraid of the dark, because we don’t know what can come out and attack us without seeing. Being powerless, not being able to see, can make us afraid. However, God will protect us no matter where we go. Even in the darkest places, God’s light can break through it all. We can feel safe in His presence, because He is more powerful than any evil. He comforts us when we feel afraid.
Whenever we feel scared or frightened by whatever life throws at us, we have to rely on God to help us. We can’t let fear control our thoughts and dictate our actions. We have to remember that God is with us wherever we go. When we’re in a bad spot mentally, emotionally, or physically, God is strong enough to take care of everything. We just have to rest in that fact and depend on Him.
How do we get rid of this overwhelming fear? We call upon the name of Jesus Christ and accept Him in our hearts as our Lord and Savior. We have to believe that He can handle anything. After reading about all the things God has done in the Bible, it should give us enough confidence to trust in Him with everything we have.
This week, pray about how you can rely on God whenever you feel afraid. Don’t let fear control you. Instead, walk in the peaceful presence of God and let His love surround you wherever you go.
