Psalm 126:3 (ESV)

“The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.”

Psalm 126:3 is a simple verse that’s straight to the point. God is good all the time and all the time God is good. He has done so much for us. We can forget that at times, but in the end, we know that God has done great things.

God blesses us every single day. We should not take anything for granted. He gives us life as we wake up in the morning. He gives us time to do what we want. For most of us, He provides shelter, food, water and all the essential things we need. To better grasp this concept, let’s look at a life where God doesn’t do anything for us.

When Adam and Eve were tempted in the Garden of Eden and sinned against God, we lost connection with Him. Ever since then, mankind has been plagued by sin. No matter who you are, we are all sinful and have done something wrong. That makes us different from God and separated from His holiness. Because of that, we deserve death. We deserve nothing.

However, due to God’s grace, He has blessed us with more than we deserve. Even though we are sinful people, God gave us His one and only Son Jesus to die on the cross to save us from our sins. That allows us to reestablish a connection with Him we lost so long ago. God provided a way to have a loving relationship with us. If we accept His gift of eternal salvation and commit our lives to Him, we can experience life in a greater light beyond anything we can imagine.

Being a follower of Christ means having the perspective that God has done so many wonderful things for us over our lives. Every day is a gift from the Lord. We should honor that gift by spreading His love to those around us and telling others about the great things God has done for us.

This week, pray about how you can appreciate the great things God has done for you. Let His love shower you with gladness as you reflect on the grace He has given you.
