Real Hope is Only Found in The Eternal
All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)
There can be no denying the reality that the world is facing a time of trouble and turmoil that has affected literally everyone. Confusion, uncertainty, division, fear, anxiety, and contradiction are dominating social media outlets. Hope in a better tomorrow is not founded on solid evidence, but rather more on a desperate desire for change. Hope cannot be found in the ever changing promises of leaders, but only in the One who never changes.
Eternal God our Creator has given us His Holy Word and it is in His Word that we find not only confident hope, but bedrock truth. This truth has the answer for all of life’s troubles. Those who believe God’s Word to be divinely inspired have an advantage because their trust and hope is secured in the very words given to us by God. Man’s words can never truly be trusted. God’s Word is always true.
God inspired the apostle Paul to write to Timothy, a young pastor, to encourage him to continue in the scriptures in order to handle the difficult times that he would experience. Because Timothy knew the scriptures since childhood, he knew where to find the answers.
In the Bible, God revealed His plan for us. At the very center of God’s plan is His eternal Son Jesus. Jesus is the undeniable proof of God’s love for all mankind. For it is in Jesus that we all have a way to heaven. That way is not found in our good deeds nor in a religion, but in the one act of God the Son when Jesus paid the death penalty we all deserve because of our sin. Eternal life is given to all who admit their sin has separated them from God and by faith personally believe that Jesus’ death on the cross was a demonstration of His love for us. Receiving God’s gift is receiving a relationship with the risen Savior that recognizes He is Lord.
This week, establish a daily time to search the Bible for your hope, the answers in difficult times, and to find God’s solution for every worry, fear and uncertainty. True and lasting hope begins with an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus. It continues with a reliance in the Holy Spirit who reveals truth in God’s Word.
