God turns the bad into the good

Joseph said to them, ‘Do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.’

Genesis 45:5

The story of Joseph in the Book of Genesis is truly an inspirational one. His brothers sold him into slavery out of jealousy and he ended up in Egypt. Although he worked his way up the corporate ladder in his master’s house, he was soon thrown into prison for something he did not do.

Thanks to a gift given to him by God, he could interpret dreams. He used this God-given gift to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams about a future famine that was about to affect the entire land. Through this, Joseph was made second-in-command in all of Egypt, which was one of the most powerful empires at the time.

Later on, Joseph’s brothers, the same ones who sold him into slavery, came to Egypt looking for food. Little did they know, their act of evil against their brother ended up saving them and their entire family. Although Joseph’s brothers did this with evil intentions, God intended it for good.

We can find small examples of this in our everyday lives. God can always find the good in any situation. All we have to do is look and see how great he is. He always finds a way to provide for us and take care of us, no matter how many times we have wronged him.

Despite the countless acts of sinfulness and disobedience against our heavenly Father, he is always there to forgive and love us. Joseph’s brothers found themselves in a similar situation. Even though they wronged Joseph, he forgave them.

God does the same thing to us every single day. All we have to do is place our faith in Him by acknowledging our sins, asking for forgiveness, and believing in His name. In the same way, he did for Joseph’s brothers, he too can give us life.

This week, pray about how you have wronged God through your sins and disobedience against him. Seek a strong relationship with Him and receive His everlasting grace.
