Dwelling in Safety

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 4:8

There’s no better feeling than sleeping peacefully knowing that you are safe from any kind of danger or harm. People go to great lengths to make sure they are safe when they are the most vulnerable. The good news is that the Lord covers us in his grace and love, which provides enough peace to last for an eternity.

God relieves us from our distress. He doesn’t necessarily take away the stress that life gives us, but he is there to comfort us when we need him. We live in a broken and imperfect world. We are going to run into danger and feel afraid at times. With God constantly reminding us that he is for us, who can be against us?

It is easy to see all the trouble going on in the world and wonder if there will ever be peace in our lifetime. We are surrounded by wars and rumors of wars. It will be that way until the Lord returns to take us home. In the meantime, we can rest easy knowing that God provides strength and comfort for us to rely on him every single day.

Even in the midst of darkness, God can lift us up into his marvelous light. He provided a way for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through that gift of grace, we can come to the Father and share an everlasting, personal relationship with the Creator of the universe. We can have peace because of what He did for us. We can dwell in the safety of his love.

God gave us his Holy Spirit to guide us, settle our souls, and provide everlasting joy. We can have tranquility in our hearts knowing that the Lord will take care of us. No matter what we’re going through, he is always there. Despite the sin that plagues our hearts and minds, God’s grace is greater.

This week, pray to the Lord and thank him for giving you safety and peace. Let the troubles of your life fade away as you come to the Father who provides everlasting joy and love to those who call upon him.
