Lost Without A Guide

“No one understands; no one seeks for God”
Romans 3:11

Imagine you are walking through a desert with no compass, no map, and no water. At first, you might think, “I’ll figure this out. I can find the way”. But after hours of wandering, every direction looks the same, and your strength begins to fail. That’s what life without God is like. We may think we understand where we’re going, but the truth is – we are lost.

Paul reminds us that none of us really understands God and no one truly seeks Him. If we stop and think about it, that’s true of our human hearts. Left to ourselves, we are often chasing comfort, success, or peace of mind – not God Himself. We wander in circles, trying to quench our thirst with things that never satisfy us. We might even reach for spiritual things, but usually with ourselves at the center. But there is good news:  God doesn’t leave us lost and stuck in our inability. Jesus, our true Guide, steps into our desert. He doesn’t wait for us to figure it out. He comes to rescue us. He says, “Follow Me, and I will lead you to living water”.

When we finally admit, “I can’t do this on my own”, that’s when He takes our hand.  Understanding and salvation aren’t found in us – they’re found in Him. Romans 3:11 reminds us that none of us naturally seeks God or truly understands Him. Like the traveler, we all wander in spiritual deserts, convinced we can figure things out on our own. But real hope begins when we admit our lostness and let the genuine Guide – Jesus

lead us to life.  Ask yourself, where have I been trying to find my own way instead of allowing Jesus to lead?

This week, surrender one area of control to Him and trust His direction.
