Repentance leads to salvation

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14

The Lord appeared to King Solomon to give this message to the people of Israel. They had moments in their history when they turned from God and received judgment. There were also times when they sought the Lord and he saved them. God hears our prayers and he is always ready to forgive when we give our hearts to him.

God promises to forgive the sins of the Israelites and give them peace and prosperity after death. The principles of this promise can be applied to us today as Christians or as non-believers. As Christians, we still commit sin and wrongdoings against God. However, we can be encouraged by the fact that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins with his sacrifice on the cross. His resurrection and power over death brings us salvation. All we have to do is ask for forgiveness.

For non-believers, no matter what they’ve done, God can still bring salvation. Anyone who repents of their sins and calls on Jesus to be their Lord and Savior can have their fellowship restored with the Creator of the universe. We are all called to turn away from our sins, no matter who we are or where we come from. The beauty of God’s grace is that his salvation is open to anyone who is willing to commit their life for his glory.

God always hears humble prayers of genuine repentance. Through our faith in Jesus, we can receive the gift of salvation he offers us. Living as a Christian is not always easy, but it is rewarding. We receive everlasting joy, peace, and a sense of purpose. By calling on his name, humbling yourself, praying to the Lord, and seeking his face, you too, can become a child of God. You too, can leave behind a life of sin and walk on the path that leads to love.

This week, call on the Father’s name for forgiveness and be encouraged that he will welcome you with open arms.
