Living by Faith When You Don’t Have All the Answers

Habakkuk 2:4
“Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him, but the righteous shall live by his faith”.

Habakkuk wasn’t writing from a place of comfort. He was confused, frustrated, watching injustice unfold, and wondering why God didn’t seem to be stepping in the way he expected.

And God’s response is interesting. He doesn’t give Habakkuk a detailed timeline. He doesn’t explain every move He’s about to make. Instead, He draws a contrast. One person is puffed up, full of pride, relying on themselves, convinced they see the full picture. The other? The righteous one. And what sets them apart is simple but powerful: they live by faith. This requires operating beyond what is visible, not trying to control your circumstances, and not having all the answers.

Living by faith doesn’t mean shutting off our questions. Habakkuk asked honest questions. It means we don’t let confusion harden into pride. We don’t let waiting turn into self-reliance. We don’t inflate ourselves just because we feel uncertain.

Faith may be quieter than pride, but it’s stronger. Pride demands immediate understanding.
Faith says, “I don’t see it yet, but I trust You.” And maybe that’s exactly what some of us need this week — not more clarity, not more control, but deeper trust.

This week, let’s pause before reacting in frustration when we don’t understand what God is doing. Choose trust over pride in the small, daily decisions and remind ourselves that steady faith, even when it feels small, is powerful in God’s eyes.

Let’s live not by what we see — but by who He is.
