Zechariah 8:23 “Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’” 

There’s a moment in this verse where people from all kinds of places grab hold of someone who follows God and says, “We want to go with you, because we’ve heard God is with you.” That’s a pretty striking image. That’s a life that makes others lean in a little closer and wonder, “What’s going on there?” 

If you’re trying to follow God, it can feel like your faith is small or unnoticed—like it gets lost in the noise of work, school, sports, social media, and everything else pulling for attention. But this verse gently reminds us: people notice more than we think. 

They notice: 

• when you don’t go along with the joke that crosses a line 
• when you stay kind in a group chat that turns harsh 
• when you don’t crumble under pressure, even if you feel it inside
• when you include someone who usually gets overlooked 

Those moments may seem small to you, but they’re not small to someone watching. They’re glimpses of something steady… something different. And that “different” isn’t about being perfect. It’s about God quietly working “in you—shaping your reactions, softening your words, giving you strength you didn’t have on your own. Over time, that becomes noticeable. Not loud. Not flashy. Just real. 

You may never have someone literally say, “I want what you have,” but it might look like a friend trusting you with something personal, or asking how you stay calm, or coming to you when life feels heavy. That’s the influence. That’s God using your everyday life to draw others closer. 

This week let’s choose one small, intentional way to live differently. Maybe it’s holding your tongue when it would be easy to snap back, showing kindness to someone on the outside, or simply being honest when it would be easier to pretend. Not to stand out for attention—but to quietly reflect that God is with you. You never know who might be watching… or who might one day reach out and say, “Can I walk with you?”
