Growing in Wisdom and Skill as The Lord Leads Me.
A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might.
Proverbs 24:5
God asks us to love Him with everything we’ve got – with our heart, our mind, our soul, and also our physical strength. This means using our bodies and abilities in thoughtful and intelligent ways. This is especially true for Christian fathers who should be a role model and Godly leader in the home.
It was Jesus who designed every single detail of Solomon’s temple. The very same Jesus who worked as a carpenter in Nazareth was the divine architect behind that amazing place built to honor God. All inspiration and progress come from Him. Whether it’s a physician who knows exactly how to help someone’s body heal, or a carpenter swinging a hammer with skill, those talents are gifts from God. He gives us skills and expects us to ask Him for help in using them wisely.
Our faith isn’t just for church on the weekends, it should be part of everything we do. Whether we are planting a crop, running a business, studying at school or building something, it should be done for God’s glory. Building a house for someone is just as important to God as singing a hymn in church. In the life of Daniel, many tried to find wrong, but failed. He is proof that when we dedicate our mind, body and life to God, we can do amazing things – and do them the right way.
This week, let’s pick one skill or task we do – whether it’s at work, at school or at home – and commit to doing it just for God. Ask Him for help to do it with excellence, integrity and heart. We can look for ways to improve our skills, stay focused, and honor Him even in the small things. So fathers, as you are given special attention this Sunday on Fathers Day, let God be glorified, reflected in a renewed attitude toward every responsibility.
