Christ and The Scriptures

39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

 John 5:39-40

The Bible is the best-selling book of all time. Even so, it has been reported recently that sales of the Bible have increased over the last year. This is excellent news. It demonstrates that people are searching for the truth. They know that they will find the truth in the Bible.

But the Bible is more than truth; it is the written word of God. Jesus Christ is the primary focus of the Bible. Years ago, Jesus told a crowd that they searched the Scriptures for eternal life, yet they refused to come to Him.

Eternal life and truth are found in Jesus Christ. The Bible is how we come to know Christ. The Bible is how we increase our faith. The Apostle Paul wrote: 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17).

As you read the Bible, let it introduce you to Jesus Christ. The writer to the Hebrews stated that we are to be:  looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2).

This week, read the Bible to learn all that Jesus has done for you. Let His love draw you to Him and receive Him as your Lord and Savior for eternal life. You have His Word on that.
