He is still holding onto us.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

John 10:27-30 (ESV)

Many people in today’s world struggle with assurance. Sometimes it’s a hard thing to feel that something is sure to happen or that someone will always come through for you. Often these feelings come in the darker times in our lives. Times of depression or anguish. Times of loss or loneliness. It is hard to believe that the people around you will always be there when you lose someone you love. It is difficult to feel loved when you feel like you are the only one in your world who cares. This is understandable. Many of us have been burned in the past by someone or experienced great loss or trauma at the hands of others. Now apply that feeling to God. When God seems far away, we often feel like we have been abandoned by God or that He has somehow forgotten about us. This also comes in the times of hardships and trials. We feel that God is far away and we can’t seem to reach Him. It is as if we stand on a dock reaching for the edge of a boat that is just out of arm’s length.

This is where the good news of the Gospel comes into effect. Those of us who have experienced God’s gift of Salvation understand the joy that comes with that gift. However, we still feel far from God. We reach and reach, but feel as if He is just out of our grasp. The good news is that we don’t reach out to God, but God comes to us, picks us up and never ever lets us go. There is nothing we can do to make Him abandon us. There is NOTHING that can snatch us out of His hand. We can’t let Him down because we don’t hold Him up: He holds us up. When God feels far, all we must do is turn to see that He is still holding onto us.

For those who have never known the joy of salvation, turn to Him. Salvation is for all who would place their faith in God, turn from sin and believe in the only way to salvation. If you submit to the Lord of the universe, He will never let you go. He will always be there for you.

This week, dwell on this truth. Understand that God is always there for you. Tell this truth to the world and let them know that they too may know the security and assurance of God’s saving Grace!
