All things that were made proceeded from God.
“Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and how inscrutable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor? Or who has given a gift to Him that He might be repaid? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.”
Romans 11:33-36 (ESV)
This is one of those passages that sings the glories of God. When we look at passages like this one, we should be brought to our knees in awe of who God is. He is so great and glorious that we cannot comprehend who He is or what He has done. We can’t understand what He thinks and we can’t even think to advise God. He is so beyond our world and our understanding, that to even search the depths of His amazing glory would be futile indeed! From Him and through Him and to Him are all things. This means that all things that were made proceeded from God. He is the originator of all things. This was done through Him and His power and the word of His mouth. All that He created was created to Him. That is, all creation was made to bring Him glory and to demonstrate His power and majesty. Truly, He deserves to be glorified forever.
Yet, this God who is so utterly great and beyond us humbled Himself to the point of a servant. Let that sink in for a moment. The God who created all things through speaking for His glory put himself at the same level as His creation. He came and lowered himself to the point where He washed the disciples’ feet. These men, nine of whom would abandon him, one betrayed him, and one denied him, deserved nothing from God and yet Jesus served them. He did the same for you and I. He came and died on the cross. Not only did He die an excruciating death, but He bore the wrath of God that you and I deserved. He was treated as a sinner so we may be treated as righteous. The cross was God becoming man so man could be in a right relationship with Him. The cross was so we may glorify God along with the rest of creation for His wisdom and knowledge. To Him be the glory forever! Amen!
This week, share this good news and praise God for His greatness.
