Less Arguing, More Listening
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 (ESV)
You don’t need to argue with false teachers through sophisticated reason. Instead, point out the foolishness of their message. Arguing with others never solves anything. Let God take care of any turmoil in your life. We’re not saying to just quote some scripture and walk away. The main message is realizing that our arguments don’t actually solve our problems. Only God can change the hearts and minds of others.
Paul is telling the church in Corinth to not sink down to the level of the false prophets and teachers of other religions around them. As Christians, we can apply this to our life today. We constantly hear people twisting the gospel message or preaching a new version of salvation. Instead of arguing with them, let God’s word do the talking. We need to do a better job of listening to God, rather than talk back to non-Christians raising arguments. We have to realize that all matters can be settled by the peace of God.
This week, pray that God can give you wisdom and discernment of picking your spiritual battles with false teachers. God’s word is truth, so let His voice guide you in all of your ways.
