Increasing in Learning
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will still be wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
Proverbs 9:9 (ESV)
Even if you are wise and experienced, no one can never reach the point where they can’t attain more wisdom. Only God has perfect wisdom and the knowledge of all things. God never makes mistakes, but we humans do. That’s why it is so important to learn from them. However, our relationship with God helps us learn from our mistakes better. Without Him in our lives, we will never gain true, righteous wisdom.
Through our walk with our Heavenly Father, we receive discernment to help us gain a better understanding. God’s wisdom in His scripture depicts the difference between right and wrong. In this passage, it says that a just man will increase in learning. In order to increase in learning, we have to make things right with God.
Wisdom is not just an intellectual quality, but a moral one as well. The wise are thus rewarded with larger measures of wisdom, because they are simple, humble and willing to learn, having that childlike spirit which Christ commends in Matthew 18:3. The more a wise man learns, the more he loves wisdom.
Those who do not have a relationship with Christ cannot gain the kind of wisdom this Proverb describes. They don’t have that personal relationship with Him. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we can learn from scripture and receive instruction the way God wants us to. We can increase in learning as we improve our relationship with our Lord and Savior.
This week, pray how you can receive God’s wisdom in a righteous manner. Learn from His word and apply it to your life, so that you can increase in learning.
