Gaining profit from labor
Proverbs 14:23 (ESV)
In all labor there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty.
There’s always something that needs to be done. The problem is actually getting up and getting it done. We talk about all the chores and tasks that need to be finished, but it’s so difficult to put forth the work to achieve our goal. It’s easy to be lazy, but we know that’s not how God wants us to act.
Words never lead to getting the job done. Hard work will help reap the benefits and you earn your rewards. Labor is work that is physically and emotionally draining. God will bless you in the work that glorifies Him. Working diligently for the Lord will be rewarded in heaven. Laziness is a trait that should not be abundant in Christians. If we want to move the kingdom of God forward, we have to put the work into it to serve Christ.
As Christians, we need to understand the value of working hard. Talking about getting something done and actually getting it done are two different things. We have to do the Lord’s work and work hard at it. Our motivation should be knowing that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. There’s something we’re striving for. Working hard in life seems difficult and painful at the time but at the end, we know God is waiting for us with our rewards in heaven. All of our hard work will pay off.
The good news is that our salvation is not works-based. There’s no balancing scale waiting for us in heaven to see if our good deeds outweigh our bad ones. That’s where grace comes in. Our salvation in Jesus Christ helps us produce good works. It’s through His gift that we are free from the slavery of sin. We are now free to bring glory to God through our good works and the Glory of God should be our motivation.
This week, pray about how you can work hard and labor for God’s kingdom. Find ways to get the job done for God’s glory.
