God is our shield
Proverbs 30:5 (ESV)
“Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.”
Back in the old days, knights used shining armor and shields to protect them from swords, arrows and other weapons of that time. The problem is that sometimes the shields get worn down and eventually bust. Or even worse, a bigger, stronger weapon would come along and break the shield, leaving the soldier defenseless. However, with God as our shield, we can rest assured that He will never leave us helpless.
In this proverb, we read about God’s word and how it protects us. Whatever God says in His word is untainted and uncorrupted. He is holy, so therefore whatever He says is truth. Whoever puts their trust in Him has full and perfect protection. God is always reliable and will defend us at all costs. Even if that means costing His life, like when He died on the cross to save us from our sins.
We need to put more trust in God’s word. We must rely on Him to protect us from sin and temptation. Only He can break our addictions and end our suffering. If we try to rely on temporary man-made resources, we will fail every time. God’s word is eternal and His power is true. He will protect us and shield us from the problems and obstacles in our life.
God’s word is pure and full of life. It’s consistent and touches our hearts and souls with conviction and love. His word promotes godliness, righteousness and truth. If we rely on the Bible for our life lessons, we can move forward in our spiritual walk and grow closer to God. The closer we are to Him, the easier it is to see how He protects us. We can trust in His grace and His promises. He has kept His word, so let us rest safely in that.
This week, pray about how you can find God’s protection in your daily life. Ask Him into your heart, so He can guard you from the wicked ways of this world. Be at peace while meditating on His holy word.
