There is One Gospel of Christ
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ.”Galatians 1:6-7 (ESV)
Just out of curiosity, have you ever typed your name in the Google search bar? Even if you have an unusual name there will most likely be many who share your name. How do you react if you’re watching the news and a bulletin comes up stating that the police are looking for a suspect with your name? You may fear that your friends will think the police are looking for you.
Obviously, just because someone has your name does not make them you. The same is true of God, Jesus, and the gospel. The Bible clearly states that there is one God, one Lord Jesus Christ, (1 Corinthians 8:6), and one faith (Ephesians 4:5).
There is however a growing number of people throughout the world who believe that the God they worship is the same God of many different religions. Is the Jesus of all religions the same person? Is the gospel the same for different faiths?
Anyone who believes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God must believe that there is only one true God, one true Jesus, and one true gospel. All who believe God’s Word must make sure they are not believing in a false God, Jesus, or gospel.
The Bible tells us in John’s gospel that Jesus is the Word that existed at the beginning with God and that He is God. Jesus the only begotten Son of God became flesh, born of a virgin through the power of the Holy Spirit. The one true gospel is clearly given throughout the Bible.
John 14:6 says, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” Romans 10:9 also states, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” It is clear from scripture that there is only one Jesus and one way to one God.
