New Beginnings
“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him.”
Psalm 40:3 (ESV)
The year 2020 has been one of challenge. We have endured many changes in our society and adapted our lifestyles in every area. This year, we have seen a pandemic which has affected the entire world. Nationally, we have seen forest fires, earthquakes, hurricanes and winter storms that have affected our country unlike any other year. In addition, we have dealt with politics and divisions like no other.
We have been challenged in every way this year. But through this, there has been one constant, our Lord our God. God doesn’t change no matter what happens. He always allows things to ultimately to work for His glory.
Sometimes it is hard to trust or see how it can be good. The Lord sees the beginning to the end and knows the full picture. We sometimes only have a limited vision of what is truly going on. What we have to do is look at scripture to see what God says.
He tells us in Proverbs 3:5 to “trust in Him and don’t depend on our own understanding.” He also says in Romans 8:28 that “all things work together for the good of those who love God.” In Psalm 40:3 we see the same message being said. Sometimes we just have to put our trust in the Lord when we look to the future.
It will be exciting to see churches getting back to normal in the upcoming New Year. To see our country slowly get back to pre-COVID days. The Lord has a perfect plan. His word tells us so. Out of everything, we should trust Him. We should look forward to 2021 and what the Lord has in store for all of us in the coming year.
This week, think about what God would have you do in 2021. Find ways to help others. Try to read the whole Bible in a year. Challenge your spiritual walk like memorizing scripture each week.
