He is Risen

6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
In the early morning hours after the Sabbath, two women went to the tomb of Jesus to anoint his body. As they walked along, they discussed with each other how they would be able to roll away the massive stone at the tomb’s entrance. But when they arrived, they noticed that the stone had been rolled away, and the tomb was empty. An angel conveyed the message to them that Jesus was not there. He had risen just as he said he would.
They would not find the living among the dead. Jesus was crucified and buried in a tomb. However, on the third day he rose. Jesus conquered death. In Revelation 2:8 Jesus said to John:
8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: ‘The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life.
Matthew 28:6

The women could not contain their excitement as they returned to where the disciples stayed. The disciples still did not believe that Jesus had risen from the dead, but they later believed when they saw the risen Lord.

Easter is the day on which we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Jesus is alive. He is at the Father’s right hand in heaven interceding for the saints. Because Jesus conquered death, we can also conquer death. Our conquering of death comes from our faith in Christ. John tells us that our faith is the faith that overcomes the world.

Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ. In His resurrection, Jesus overcame the world and conquered death, and because He did, we can as well, if we receive Him as our Lord and Savior.

This Easter week, remember our Lord. Celebrate His victory. He has risen. If you have not yet received Christ as your Lord and Savior, today is the day of salvation. Receive Him today.
